Cruz to be arrested?

Will the national leadership dare to pick Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz and three other bishops and put them into detention?

The outspoken Archbishop who has something to say about anything and everything under the sun, has received information that Malacañang was out to get him and the other  bishops.  They will be picked up anytime by police authorities then charged for machinating to overthrow the present Administration, Cruz claimed.

But Cruz said he will not elude arrest and will willingly go, even joking that I must visit him if he is detained. He added however, that he did not feel he was in danger nor was he afraid. “Matagal na akong takot,” he told me.

In  a statement, Cruz said it was a big pity that the Administration was overrating him and the three other bishops in the country and that it was an honor to be included in the "order of battle."

"Arrest me? I do not deserve it — yet," Cruz, who made it to national news because of his exposes on jueteng payola, said.

Cruz said the Administration's thinking and option appeared to be making him much more than what he really was. "It seems desirous of giving me an honor I do not in anyway deserve. To arrest, jail and penalize me for sedition, treason or the rebellion could be worthy of entry in the Guinness Book of World Records."

He accused the government of being afflicted with paranoia.

If and when the Arroyo Administration does arrest Cruz, then we have a history in the making. I can't recall of any Church leader being arrested in our country which is fanatically religious. Even with all the faults of the priests, Catholics will still rally behind them if they will be arrested.
